Until she was about three years old, Brittany seemed to be developing along in the usual way. At this time, it became apparent she was seeing the world in her own unique way. We eventually took her to the University of Washington Autism Clinic, where she was diagnosed with autism, along with both of her two siblings.

Brittany is quiet and gentle and kind to everyone. She enjoys watching movies, putting puzzles together, and reading classic stories. In addition, she thoroughly enjoys creating beautiful and useful things. Brittany is very organized, meticulous, and is especially good with her hands. Combining her various talents and interests has allowed her to become wonderfully skilled in many different arts and crafts, such as drawing and hand sewing.

Brittany is currently employed at Barbara’s Bridal Boutique, where she sews tiny beads and lace on the lovely wedding dresses. She absolutely loves her job. Recently, she has also begun learning how to create beautiful bracelets using a technique called bead weaving, which is essentially sewing with beads. She picked it up very quickly and now wants to learn how to do other types of beading. It will be exciting to see what else she will learn to create.
